Youtube and other online tools are becoming increasingly popular alternatives to traditional education. While the printing press first revolutionised mass distribution of information, the online learning revolution democratises knowledge even further with less gatekeepers, skills hierarchy and limits to technology access. Exercises in Learning follows the theoretical, experiential and critical research into this shift in knowledge sharing. Through the act of making a printing press with skills learnt solely through the platform, he demonstrates how one can gain knowledge without traditional forms of education. Then by documenting, reflecting and uploading the process onto the platform, he shares the act of learning itself.
Now having graduated I will continue in my research into the field of alternative education. Both by continuing investigating the uses of YouTube as a platform, but also the use of workshops as an alternative excersise. I will update this page with updated findings.
